Animal Reiki
I am a Reiki Master. I was trained in the Usui
System of Natural Healing. Reiki's origins are thousands of years
old and originate in Japan where Dr. Mikao Usui was said to have
re-discovered the healing system in the early 1900's. Reiki (ray-key) translates
to mean "Universal Life Force Energy".
Reiki is a system of energy healing that is used on
humans and animals in a variety of health care settings. Reiki has
many uses today and is becoming more widely known to help ease the
pain of illness, and bring about calm.
Reiki helps the physical body relax, and helps heal
at all levels. It can help clear blockages in the energy centers or the
"Chakra Centers" in the body (yes, animals have them too).
Opening the flow of energy helps heal at all levels: emotional,
mental, physical, and spiritual.
Reiki can bring about a sense of peace to help stress
related issues. I find that it calms and soothes both people and
animals experiencing pain and illness. It can relax upset or
agitated animals so they can be touched.
It is not uncommon for animal communicators
to utilize alternative healing modalities in their animal communication
practice. For me, this tool adds to the intuitive process of communicating
mentally.
Animal Reiki Sessions with Animals
Animal Reiki sessions can be conducted either hands on, or
offered at a distance.
I become quiet and still, once again asking
for permission from the animal to accept the energy where and when
they need it.
In a distance session I first "offer" Reiki
to the animal asking if they wish to accept the energy. Many times
they gladly accept the energy and proceed to absorb just what their
bodies need.
I do not focus or urge the energy to any one
place, it simply flows to the source of the illness or injury .
Some animals accept Reiki from a distance first,
than move over to experience hands on Reiki. Sometimes a healing
reaction occurs where an animal may seem temporarily worse as the
illness leaves the body and recovery begins.
Clients should know that Reiki practitioners do not
diagnose. If you or your animal friend has a health
issue see a doctor or veterinarian as soon as possible.
Animal Reiki for Animals in Hospice Settings
Often times when an animal is seriously ill or terminal,
in addition to veterinary care, palliative care can be extremely
beneficial to keep them comfortable.
Reiki is a subtle, yet very effective alternative
modality to offer an animal during this time of transition.
